USM Corporate Social Investment
The corporate social investment (CSI) policy of Umfolozi Sugar Mill is to support community-based projects that contribute towards the creation of a stable and prosperous society. The programme supports non-profitable organisations without regard to race, gender, disability, religion, ethnicity, age or sexual orientation.
While particular emphasis is placed on education, particularly in the fields of maths, science and engineering, USM also provides assistance aimed at social stability, quality of life and economic prosperity as concerns of national priority therefore improving the lives and well-being of communities with which it has a relationship.
The items included in our CSI programme are aimed at improving these conditions in various communities around the area in which we operate in. Through our CSI programme we benefit disadvantaged South Africans, including homeless children, youth involved with crime, unemployed rural woman and men, AIDS orphans and people involved in conservation and conservation education.
